<subfield code="a">Photograph depicts the First National Bank, dated (June 29, 1909) according to calendar visible in picture. The building was located at the SW corner of 6th (Gray) Street and Avenue D. Pictured: Will Rancier, president, at the left; Sam S. Rancier, cashier, in the center; and Virgil Stallworth, bookkeeper, at the right. In 1897, Will formed the town's first bank, the Jeweler's Bank. The bank was located at the SW corner of 6th (Gray) Street and Avenue D. The bank was later moved to the SE corner of the same intersection and occupied a portion of a hardware, implement and jewelry store operated by Will, Sam, and father Ed Rancier. In 1901, the First National Bank opened and was located at the NW corner of 6th (Gray) Street and Avenue D. In July 1904, FNB bought the Jeweler's Bank and moved into its building, which at this time was at the SE corner of Avenue D and Fourth Street. In 1908, the bank moved to the SW corner of 6th and Avenue D and remained there until it relocated across the street at the NW corner of 6th and D. The bank remained there until 1961 when it built a new building further north on Gray (6th) Street. Will and Sam were born to E. J. Rancier and Josephine Shelton Rancier in Belton, in 1868 and 1877, respectively. Will moved to Killeen in 1896 and set up a jewelry business, he was joined by Sam and his father, Ed. Will also owned several other businesses: the City Light and Power Company, an opera house in the privately built Rancier Park on north College Street, the Blue Front Racket Store, a construction business. Will married Margaret A. Young and the couple had 5 children. The family lived on the NW corner of 6th (Gray) Street and Rancier Avenue. Sam married Josephine Massey and the family lived on Fourth Street, just north of Rancier. Will died in 1956 and Sam in 1963.</subfield>
